About the dive site

A wonderful dive site that has helped establish Koh Chang's reputation for healthy and well-preserved coral reefs within Thailand.

Hin Raab, translated as “flat rock,” is the perfect description of this small rock with a huge coral reef surrounding it. You can find practically every type of hard and soft coral, sponge or anemone that is native to Koh Chang. The number and color of creatures you will see here is always breathtaking and this reef will give you moments you have never experienced before, even after many dives. The shallow depth of the reef allows us to spend most of the dive at 10 meters, which makes this dive site particularly suitable for beginners or snorkelers.

The dive usually begins on one of the mooring lines, which are 5-8 meters deep. Then, depending on the current, you dive around the small rock, with the deepest part of the reef in the south being up to 18 meters. A leisurely circuit around the island takes about 40 minutes, but the shallow depth allows many divers to end up spending their dive in the shallows, extending their dive time to 60 minutes.

Watch out for moray eels, blue spotted rays or the famous-infamous Giant triggerfish. Part of the reef serves as a food source for the hawksbill sea turtle and sometimes one can be found searching for something to eat. Some of the largest hard corals of the genus can be found on the southern edge of the cliff Acropora within the archipelago. Also to the south is a large field of anemones, home of the collared anemonefish.

In the immediate vicinity of the dive site are three other of our dive sites: Blueberry Hill, the so-called Secret Reef and the wreck of the T11
